Conference Identity Design – Alabama Joint Leadership Development Conference (JLDC)
Theme: “Heroic Leadership”
Challenge: Develop a bold and inclusive conference identity for the Alabama JLDC, themed "Heroic Leadership," to engage and inspire over 5,000 students from nine Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).
Solution: I led a team to create a dynamic, visually impactful conference design inspired by classic comic book themes, using diverse, gender-inclusive superhero silhouettes to foster inclusivity and self-empowerment among attendees. This approach extended to health and safety signage and interactive elements, featuring a "Hero Wall" where students could celebrate their personal heroes.
As project lead, I directed the entire process—from concept to execution—overseeing the design, production, and installation of environmental graphics and collateral, including a custom stage design, interactive backdrops, event signage, banners, and columns wraps. I also led the development of supporting materials for student training sessions, swag boxes, and promotional campaigns, ensuring brand consistency across all elements like branded mailing boxes, stickers, masks, bracelets, posters, and social media graphics. To unify the event space, I crafted JLDC-branded banners with their signature navy, teal, and orange palette and incorporated the JLDC crest.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Logo & Visual Identity: Established cohesive brand style and theme.
Conference Renderings & Environmental Design: Produced detailed renderings for the main stage and large-scale installations.
Team Leadership: Directed and managed the design team through production and installation.
Large-Scale Graphics & Signage: Designed impactful signage and directional graphics for smooth navigation.
Merchandising: Developed branded merchandise to enhance engagement and reinforce the theme.
Outcome: This vibrant, interactive conference identity reinforced JLDC’s brand, creating an engaging and empowering experience that resonated with students and underscored JLDC’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
